Portland Foodbank supports people suffering food poverty on the Island. You do not need to be on any benefits and are very aware of the difficulties working people, families and everyone is under. We are based in St Johns Hall, Ventnor Road and rely on a small friendly team of Christian Volunteers. Our opening times are Tuesday and Friday 9.30-11.30. To use the foodbank you need a referral from someone able to support you out of food poverty. This could be CAB, ICA, doctors on e-consult, Church, Health Visitor, Social Worker, Dorset Council, REACH, The Lantern, Serra Properties, First Point at the Information Centre in Weymouth.

Formed on 8th March 1956, our core values are, Unity, Loyalty, Patriotism, Comradeship. The Isle and Royal Manor of Portland has had a long association with the Royal Navy and the Fleet Air Arm and even though the Navy has now moved its bases further afield, the area still has a large contingent of retired naval veterans who welcome the opportunity to meet up and ‘swing the lantern’ with old shipmates. We hold regular monthly meetings at the Masonic Lodge on the first Wednesday of every month. If you are interested and would like more information please contact Karen on the email address provided.
