A fully equipped wood workshop with a wide selection of tools. A place where you can learn a new skill and share ideas with others to complete your projects or work on ours which go towards raising funds. Age and skill is not a barrier to create
The workshop was established some 8 years ago as a place primarily for older guys to meet up and make sawdust while drinking tea. After a little while they realised that there was something missing and after some more tea they decided that it would be a great opportunity to share their knowledge with others opening up to the wider community. One group of the community were the ladies who wanted to have a go with all these lovely but scary tools and so Ladies day was established. Now the ladies liked being able to use the tools that many were not previously encouraged to use and they liked to create their own sawdust and drink tea. Now 8 years or so later the workshop has become an integral part of the community welcoming people of all ages skilled or not led by a dedicated team of volunteers. A slight name change dropping the man shed to just the Portland shed and its growing in popularity. The shed can make so many items but the biggest thing they make is Mental Health Care and gives people a sense of purpose
