Portland Town Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This site is largely compliant with WAG 2.2 AA, with the exception of the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

  • Some of our links are not accessible by a screen reader as the text is not descriptive enough to tell a user where that link will take them. We are reviewing and fixing these links.
  • Form labels help assistive technologies to understand what input is expected in a form field. We are reviewing our forms. but the majority are accessible.
  • The accessibility regulations don't require us to remediate PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they're not essential to providing our services.
  • We will endeavour to meet accessibility standards on any new PDFs or Word documents we publish.
  • There are lots of historic PDF documents on our website. We are reviewing and prioritising our documents. We aim to remediate those that are most used and are essential to providing our services.

What we're doing to improve accessibility

We are currently reviewing and implementing improvements to accessibility on the website and improving online information. We have conducted our own audit and the recommendations are being implemented.

Externally procured materials will be fully accessible and guidelines provided to contractors.
