In 2021 the Council revised its structure and consolidated oversight of day-to-day business into a series of new Committees. Council Committees generally operate to the same rules as Council meetings. Each meeting therefore :-

• Has lawful status, set out in a formal Terms of Reference
• Has an agenda, published ahead of each meeting
• Elects a Chair
• Is open to members of the public
• Has a designated public half hour forum where members of the public may address councillors on matters concerning Business on the agenda of the meeting, where the Town Council has powers or duties or other matters which directly affect the parish of Portland.
• Has a formal set of minutes which records all decisions made, and is published after the meeting
