Portland Town Council is governed by the following objectives in carrying out its activities.

Improve health and well-being of residents by using our own resources and by supporting and working with DC, NHS and voluntary bodies.

Respond to the climate emergency by lowering the council’s own carbon footprint and by lobbying and supporting other organisations to lower the their carbon footprint.

Promote sustainable economic development on the island.

Be an efficient and well run council.

Work with voluntary bodies and Dorset Council to safeguard and enhance the heritage assets of the island.

Engage in and support  the development of cultural, recreational and leisure facilities available on the island.
